Regional gap in students’ performance at the quantiles

چکیده

Abstract The average math score in Italy sizably improved 2009. quantile regression analysis shows that the determinants of improvement are related to school resources. decomposition at quantiles characteristics relevant north-center regions. In south both covariates and coefficients. coefficient component is unexplained by model linked changes students' attitude, a more favorable disciplinary climate. southern regions gap decreases but does not disappear. students’ attitude toward school, if supported improvements characteristics, could further reduce regional gap.
